Time with my Lovely Little Ladies

A girls weekend. A mere 2 days out of 365. But that’s all it took for us to have one of the most memorable times of my life, and has me dreaming down the road into the next twenty years. I find myself asking the question: Is it really that hard to pull away from life? And if it not hard, why don’t we do it more often?

I walked into a dream. A beautiful hotel. Just my Little Ladies and I. I cleared my schedule to just be with them. It was our first “girls weekend.” I had never really intended in starting a tradition, but I’m planning out the next 30 as we speak.

I had them all to myself. No boys- Dad and Jake were together doing manly things. And that left me with our three girls. There was no fighting. No arguing. Only laughing and smiles. There was ice cream for breakfast and pool time from sunrise to sunset. A fancy dinner one night and room service for dinner the next.  Not a care in the world. Healthy and happy- life couldn’t be more perfect. I wish the weekend could have lasted just a little bit longer. Because, in a blink of an eye, it was over. Just like that.

I can’t wait for this weekend next year. Their ages will always change. The teenage years are on the horizon and then life. Their relationships with each other will grow but I want to strengthen their bond with me so it’s as solid as a rock. One day, our lives might one day be more complicated. But I hope that each year, we can always come back to something we started a long time ago. A girls weekend. Just to reconnect. Talk about the the days when we used to have it good. Talk about the future. Snuggle in bed.  Take late night swims. Just be for a bit. Taking us back to when life wasn’t so complicated. I didn’t want the weekend to end.

But my memories will stay. And live forever in my heart. I had the most amazing time with my girls. I know they will grow up to be my best friends.

Not so sure if the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is for you? Well, this party on Main Street is the hottest ticket in town as it will sell out nightly the closer we get to Halloween (and prices do increase as you get closer to Halloween). Mama Loves: Exploring Tampa Bay

Tampa- Pirate Water Taxi

My favorite way to explore a new city that I am visiting is taking recommendations from the people who know it best. The insiders. The experts. The locals. It’s no secret that I love Tampa. It’s one of my favorite cities in all of Florida! I know it inside and out. I love learning about what’s new, what’s coming, and what’s happening. My kids and I often play tourists in our own city, taking time to have fun and experience new things in our own backyard.

Florida Travel: A Relaxing Spring Break at The Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee

The words “relaxing,”  “brake” and “kids” are words we all long to hear together. Spring break sneaks up on me and the next thing I know I have four children at home for a week. The good thing is that living in Tampa we have the opportunity to go so many different places that really aren’t too far away. It’s like living on a permanent vacaton. Only an hour from the beach, a few hours from an ocean and blue skies and sunhine pretty much year round. We  love a good hotel with fun things to do for kids and families. I feel that many families are looking for just that. A break from the every day run around, that the kids will have fun at and that I too can take a vacation as well.

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

There are a few things that I look forward to you when the weather starts to turn from cold to beautiful. And the skies church start to turn from gray to blue. I love opening day of baseball, I love watching the masters, but to me the first signs of spring happen when I visit The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. For the past 24 years this festival has taken blue skies, beautiful flowers and endless magic and transformed Epcot into one of the most beautiful places in Florida this time of year.  And each year the event gets better and better.

Tampa Mama on Great Day Tampa Bay 3.21

Kids on Spring Break is like a precursor to summer!  So we’ve got a few tips to keep you sane if you’ll be at home with kids!  And keep this list handy for summer too!

  1. Have a plan for the day!  Weather that be an activity for the morning or a play date schedule for the afternoon or a movie night scheduled for the evening, a plan will help keep you sane. I’ve got a list of 75 activities for kids and families in Tampa Bay that will help you plan! (And you might want to keep the list for summer too!)
  2. Science projects are SO MUCH fun! We’ve got 2 here that kids love and will grow their minds while not making you crazy either! Slime is all the rage as is using some household items to form a chemical reaction! SAFETY FIRST! Make sure to wear your safety goggles too! (All items are available at your local super store.)
  3. Cooking! For the whole family: Spring is a perfect time for Strawberry picking in Tampa Bay!  We made this activity last a little longer by cooking!  We love the Sprinkle Cookbook and their Strawberry Cupcake recipe is spot on! Working on math and fractions with cooking is also a math bonus!
  4. For younger kids, making playdough is super fun and keeps them busy for longer than just the making!
  5. Go outside!  Plant a garden! Take the dog for a walk I like dual purpose activities! Sprinkler plus a hose means my car, the dog and even their bikes can get washed. And everybody is happy!
  6. Throw a themed dinner party! Decorations, menus, pretty place settings!  Have fun! It takes all day to prepare for your party!
  7. Technology is fun!  Just not all day! Teach them something new! My kids love playing movie director! iMovie is super simple and their films are hilarious! They write. They use props. The shoot scenes around the house. Teach them stop motion video techniques! It’s so creative and they become better with technology!

The Florida State Fair: Deep Fried Thoughts on Ferris Wheels, Fried Oreos and Corn Dogs || Tampa Mama

Florida State Fair- Farris Wheel Fair Rides

The Florida State Fair began in 1904 near what is now more well-known as the University of Tampa. It was there that the Mid-Winter Festival continued to attract families and entertain them with games and popcorn, or competitions for the best bull or the the best pie. But it wasn’t until February 1977, 40 years ago, that it first took place where it still takes place today. Now attracting over half a million visitors each February, we are the first Fair on the State Fair circuit.

New York City

META InfluencerMy oldest children are in their pre-teen years. Last Christmas, we tried something new. My daughter had been constantly on us for a trip to NYC. I travel for work often to the City and she’s always wanting to tag along. Last Christmas, she opened a ticket to NYC. I didn’t give her the date (although you could do that too) but more the promise that we will plan a trip together and the visit.  The gift of travel and more experiential gifts area becoming more popular with our kids. They have come to the understanding that these trips do cost money and they have started to choose the experience over the toy. I’m loving that they are making that choice themselves too!
