Slow Cooked Meals from Bob Evans are Perfect For This Busy Mama

No Comments Ad, Adventures, Dining Out, Review, Sponsored, Tampa, Tampa Bay, Tampa Restaurants

Thank you to Bob Evans Restaurants for sponsoring this post and thank you for reading!

I love to cook. I truly enjoy cooking a slow meal that we can all enjoy together. We go to the farmers markets on weekends. We cook together. The kids enjoy being a part of making the meal. It’s time we spend together hopefully making memories that my kids will  one day share with their kids.

But life with four kids isn’t always as easy a Sunday morning. We have homework, baseball practice, gymnastics, Girl Scouts. I work full time and so does my husband. I try to be mindful of meals by planning in advance, prepping them the day before and using leftovers wisely. But our kids have grown to really enjoy a fresh, slow cooked homemade meal.

I was introduced to Bob Evans Restaurants when we would travel with my family from Milwaukee to Tampa. I honestly haven’t been back in years, but that’s soon to change. They really understand me. They get I’m busy and just can’t do it all. Some days I need a break. Just a break to sit down, talk with my kids and take to work out of the delicious meal. Sometime is good to let someone else do the cookin’ and especially of the food will be just like Mama used to make.

The 3 course dinners now available remind my kids of my cooking and our Sunday Suppers. It’s nice to know that any night of the week, when school, work and life get to hectic, we can drop by for a visit where we can slow down, relax, enjoy a slow cooked homemade meal, just like I would have cooked.

My kids loved the pot road and the broasted chicken dinner. With so many sides to choose from, picky eaters can celebrate. Add fresh bread and a salad, and dinner is done!

A little insiders tip is to visit with the family on Tuesday because kids eat free with the purchase of an adult menu. (See store for full rules.)
I’ll definitely be signing up for emails and taking advantage of their specials.

It’s nice to know that places like Bob Evans are there to help busy parents like us. We can’t wait to visit Bob Evans again!

Super League Gaming Comes to Tampa Bay

No Comments Ad, Kids, Sponsored, Tampa, Tampa Bay

I recently was a judge at the Start Up Weekend Youth Tampa Bay and I saw some amazing things from the youths that participated. They are tech savvy, smart, ambitious and they pay attention to problems we have and they figure out ways to solve them. I also learned some amazing things about the recreational habits of these tech savvy kids. They all seem to love technology and it is embedded in their childhood. Technology is a part of them. It is growing at a faster rate than we can even imagine and I can’t see it going away anytime soon.

Parents today are balancing the fine line of teaching technology, making sure that kids don’t get too much screen time but also fostering a love for learning and understanding technology that might just one day be a career for them! I was very interested in hear about the Super League Gaming that is soon to come to Tampa October 6- November 10 at Cirtus Park 20 at Citrus Park Mall.

Super League President and COO Brett Morris is a dad. “It’s incredible how many kids are spending hours playing or watching YouTube videos of others playing this game [Minecraft] and we thought there just had to be a way to bring these kids, who were all playing alone in their rooms, together somehow,” he says. “As a parent, you want your kids to explore their passions, but when they’re by themselves, consumed in this other world, you can’t help but want them to be out with other kids their age, connecting over shared passions. That’s what Super League is meant to do, bring gamers together for some good old fashioned competitive fun in a safe environment.”

So how does it work? Super League’s proprietary technology will allow the players to bring their own laptop and then a third-person areial view will be shown on the big screen! And for those gamers that might want to meet other’s with the same interest, this will be the place to hang out! It’s always fun doing something you love with someone that shares similar interests with you!

This weekly event has been extremely successful and is on a full tour all over the country! Players will buy tickets, bring their laptops, and get ready for a tournament (playing against those they are sitting right next to) while they munch on popcorn and converse in friendly banter with actual people. Tickets cost $80 for 6 (all) of the fall sessions.

Sign up and get your game on! A few things to note:

  • Seats filling up fast!
  • GAMERS PLAY ON 4-7 MEMBER TEAMS.
  • Super League will place you on a team — or form your own!
  • EARLY REGISTRATION: $80 for 6 weeks if purchased by Sept. 30
  • $100 if bought after Sept. 30
  • ALL PLAYERS RECEIVE A FREE SUPER LEAGUE JERSEY

Want to learn why this gaming league is a league like no other? Read this article in Time Magazine about America’s First Video Game Varsity Athletes. Might just pay for college one day.

Tampa Mama Loves: Del Frisco’s Grille Tampa, Florida

No Comments Ad, Adventures, Review, Sponsored, Tampa, Tampa Bay

We are always on the look out for new places to eat in Tampa. In November 2014, Del Frisco’s Grille opened right accross from International  Plaza. We haven’t been until yesterday and we wish we had been here sooner. We were enticed to try them out as July is National Ice Cream month and from July 17-26, you can get their Adult Milkshake half price with the purchase of any entree. (And trust me, you’ll definitely want to visit… Even if it’s just for the milkshake!)

A great place to mingle at the bar with friends or sit rooftop with family. The outside area was a perfect place for us to sit while we enjoyed a nice breeze and atmosphere.

Turn Date Night into a Staycation at Home With the Draftmark Home Tap System

No Comments Ad, Lifestyle, Review, Sponsored, Tampa, Tampa Bay

We love to go out. My husband and I that is. But honestly, when we add up the babysitter, the dinner, the drinks, the Über cab, the time it’s going to take me to get ready and get dinner ready for four kids… Ummmm… I’m exhausted already and all I really want to do is relax… at home… after I get the kids to bed with my favorite person.

But what do we really miss when we can’t go out? I think it is a toss up between the draught beer and the ambiance. It’s so nice to just relax on the patio of some of our favorite place, chill and just be. A cold beverage is always nice and a location is everything!

Feeling Good About Diapers

No Comments Ad, Kids, Parenting, Review, Sponsored

We are almost there. Almost done. So close yet so far.

IMG_7343.JPG

This is my monkey. She lives in the trees (or at least I would gather that she would rather most days). She’d rather be naked most days and we are on the verge of potty training, but we just aren’t quite there yet. So here we stand. On the final diaper frontier. I can say that over the past 3 children that I have raised I have gotten to be much more knowledgeable about the diapers that my kids wear, what goes into their body, what goes on their body and so on. There are more certifications and labels that I see now on products that state organic, eco-friendly and so on. But I am much more aware of what these mean and what works best for my family too.

I fell in LOVE with the diapers that Abby is wearing now, the Bambo Baby Diapers. I can honestly say that they are the best diapers I have used and my only regret is that I didn’t find them sooner.

Abby has super sensitive skin and these have been the only diapers that she hasn’t had an allergic reaction to because they actually let her skin breathe. They contain no dangerous chemicals and or allergens, and if you have a child with sensitive skin, you will be very aware of anything that touches their precious skin.

According to Web MD, 95% of parents use disposable diapers, but do you really know what they are made of? And of course, the cloth diaper debate is also one to look into as well (my good friend Calley, The Eco Chic, LOVES her some cloth diapers and is considered an expert so you can ask her here).

But for us, we went with an eco-friednly, dermatologically tested Bambo Nature line that made me feel good about purchasing diapers for the time that we have left in them.

Thank you to Bambo Nature for sponsoring this post!

Valspar Golf Championship Comes to Tampa Bay

1 Comment Adventures, Florida, Kids, Review, Sponsored, Tampa, Tampa Bay

Jake learning golf from the First Tee of Tampa Bay.

This is a sponsored post by Valspar Championship.

Golf is a life long sport. It is an amazing sport to introduce to children. We have

I have always wanted my kids to familiarize themselves with golf for a number of reasons. Golf is a wonderful sport for anyone to learn at any age at anytime. And most that are introduced at a later age would agree that they wish they would have learned it at a younger age. Here are 5 reasons golf is a great sport for kids:

1. Learn etiquette. Golf is a game of etiquette. You learn the rules. You follow the rules. You behave in a certain way when playing the sport. It’s a perfect way to learn characteristics that are often missing in the youth sports arena.

2. It’s a lifetime sport. One can play golf for a lifetime. It’s a sport that is a timeless classic and can be played by many at various skill levels.

3. Teaches personal responsibly. There are no teammates to blame if a shot doesn’t go your way. You learn to own the outcome of what transpires during each round.

4. Learn to focus. Concentration. Focus. Patience. Strength of character. Golf takes all if these skills and teaches kids to control their emotions during the highs and lows of the game. Just like in life, we must learn to deals with the good and the ugly, and by using lessons from golf, why not practice these skills.

5. Push away the screen. Playing golf is a fun activity to get kids outside (or inside) and away from the screen. With childhood obesity at an all time high, activities that help kids have fun and become active are needed!

For more ways to Push Away The Screen, visit Fit Kids Playground.

The Valspar Championship is the perfect place to take children (kids under 15 are free) so that they can experience golf at its best. The course is beautiful and it’s an professional experience that will get them excited to learn the sport.

For a listing of scheduled events for the upcoming championship, Sunday, March 8th through Sunday, March 16th, click here. There is a Jabil Family Fun Zone presented by Publix (8th and 9th holes) during the Championship rounds starting Thrusday, March 8- Sunday, March 12.

About the Championship:

The Valspar Championship is considered the most colorful PGA TOUR tournament in world, featuring some of the biggest names in golf, an interactive Family Fun Zone, a complimentary Saturday night concert featuring The Band Perry and opportunities to meet the players and receive autographs. The tournament takes place at the Innisbrook Resort and is scheduled this year for March 9-15, 2015. For ticket packages and information, visit ValsparChampionship.com or call 727-942-5566.

If you have an interest in starting your child in golf after the tournament, I personally recommend The First Tee of Tampa Bay. They have partnered courses all over the Tampa Bay area as well as classes and teams that are forming year round. Their mission: To impact the lives of young people in the Greater Tampa area by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

I have donated my 4, one-day tickets to the tournament, to The First Tee of Tampa Bay for families who will be taking their children to the Valspar Championship in hopes to inspire them to golf and learn the sport.

I loved golf from the moment I began playing when I was 9. I hope that other kids will learn to love it too.

If you’d like to win tickets, hop on over to my friend, The Eco Chic, where she is giving away 4 tickets!
