With April only a few days away, I couldn’t wait to share the news! Drum roll………….

AHHHHH!!!  Shelby & I were asked to be on the cover of Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine (THE BEST parenting magazine in Tampa Bay!)  I have read this magazine for 14 years.  The editor Laura, has become an amazing friend and I could not be more excited to see that Tampa Bay parents get to have HER guiding them around our city! It’s a beautiful publication and one that many bloggers have the opportunity to contribute to.  She believes in collaboration and I just LOVE her as a person too!

My story “Our Sweet New Normal” is on 78. I was so honored to write this with the JDRF Tampa Bay ONE WALK coming up Amalie Arena on April 13th. We are TEAM SHELBY and would LOVE to have you walk with us!

Our story is only one of 40,000 each year newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I tell you about our diagnosis day, what our new normal is like & why research and funding are needed now more than ever. Thank you Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine for allowing us to share this important message. I hope you’ll read and maybe come walk with us!

If you see us out and about snap a picture and tag us on Instagram at @TampaMama!  We’d love to see where you picked us up!

Tampa Mama on Great Day Live Tampa Bay || Hot Local Christmas Gifts + Ideas For The Whole Family

No Comments Great Day Tampa Bay, Holidays, Mama Loves, Shopping, Studio 10 TV Segment, Tampa, Tampa Bay, Things To Do

I absolutely love that Great Day Live Tampa Bay gives me an opportunity to share my favorite things with all of Tampa!  This Tampa Mama is feelin’ the LOVE!  Yes, having 4 kids to shop for makes this time of year crazy, but if you can get ahead of the game you’ll be set.  And also, shopping local (that means you Hyde Park Village!) gives me the opportunity to get those special items for that special someone very easily and with no shipping!  Thank you to Fig and Julep, Salt Pines and Francesca’s in Hyde Park Village for working with me to fill my set with all the perfect gifts!

My top ideas from the segment included: (See bottom of post for all links

  1. How to give an adventure: What I wanted to do here was help others give an experience.  A trip is a good gift in theory, but how can you put it under the tree. Start to gather items that they would use on the trip.  Call the CVB and request maps and brochures! Use fun stickers and a box with all the surprises for the kids to open so that they can get excited about the vacation!
  2. Night out vs Night In: Yes, everyone of us in Tampa would love a GC to the famous Bern’s Steakhouse of course!  And if you do go that route, maybe pair it with a DryBar appointment or a hot shave from The Cambridge Club in Hyde Park Village!  And if you are wanting to do a “night in” stop at the Fig and Julep in Hyde Park Village for an amazing selection of world class food items!  This will be a “Gourmet Night In”. Find everything you need to truly create a gourmet dinner for your loved one. Choose from the finest of ingredients from all over the world to elevate your cooking and take you on an epicurean adventure in the comfort of your own home. A night in never tasted this delicious.
  3. Toys that are cool AND functional or educational: Duel purpose! Of couse the kids are going to need some toys to open on Christmas Day!
  4. Ideas that won’t break the bank. I created my our Tampa Mama Adventure box! You too can make this especially for your kids! 12 mini envelopes. 12 gift cards for various activities. They only open one a month and we will do the adventure that day! Add any thing your kids would like!

My big kids are going to Chicago in January! Pair the expensive plane tickets with anew bag from Lands End or travel accessories from MyTagalongs from Franchesca’s. Even a cute box with things to keep them warm!

Tip: Contact the CVB of where you are going to have them send you brochures and maps!

A night out to Bern’s Steakhouse is always a gift! Or maybe have a “Night In” with this gourmet food basket from Fig and Julep in Hyde Park Village! Creative and thoughtful for that special someone.

Above is my “Tampa Mama Adventure Box.” 12 mini envelopes with 12 gift cards for each month curated with activities for my kids! Each adventure is taken care of and what we open will be a surprise!

Franchesca’s has the cutest clothes too!

Salt Pines in Hyde Park Village is the place to shop for some amazing outdoor gifts and apparel.

Lemonade For Good// Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar Benefits Alex’s Lemonade Stand One Lemon at a Time // Tampa Mama Loves

No Comments Ad, Giving Back, Tampa, Tampa Bay

If I had only one wish, it would be to cure childhood cancer. To get rid of this terrible thing, that has caused so many families, loved ones, needless heartaches, would be a wish that I only wish I could grant. But until then, I will always support the foundations that try their very hardest to make that wish of mine come true.

This summer, until August 12th, head to Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar + Grill where guests will be able to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to help take a stand against childhood cancer. The simple purchase of a lemonade or a paper lemon will help Applebee’s and more than 1,050 participating restaurants, aim to raise $1 million dollars to help fund cutting-edge medical research for pediatric cancer and family support programs.

#BadMomsXmas #Tampa Screening: Tampa Mama

No Comments Mama Loves, Movies, Sneak Peak, Tampa, Tampa Bay

I have been waiting for this movie to come out since the first Bad Moms movie debuted!  Not only do I consider myself a member of the Bad Moms Club, but I couldn’t agree more with this hillarious movie and how they depict our daily lives of chaos and triumph! I know I want to see  Bad Moms Xmas with a few of my closest Tampa Bad Moms for a Bad Moms Night Out!

BADMOMSXMAS

If you didn’t see the first movie, I can verbally replay the movie for you because I have it memorized! It is my sanity on a rainy day. And this new movie I am sure will not disappoint! How many of you are overstressed about having to make the holidays “that perfect” along with all the pressures of doing “all the things” for Christmas! HOLLLLAAAA!!! Come watch the what I predict will be one of the best holiday movies of the season!

Can’t make the screening, buy your tickets today and go see it with your own Bad Moms Club!

ABOUT BAD MOMS XMAS:

A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. And if creating a more perfect holiday for their families wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers.

By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers.

Edited: As of 3pm on October 24, we were informed that the previously scheduled Tampa sneak preview scheduled for October 30th at AMC Veterans was canceled by STX Entertainment. We were told that they will not be hosting any sneak previews for this movie.

My Perfect Mess

The perfect picture. The perfect marriage. The perfect kid. I threw the the towel for perfection around kid number two. And as a recovering perfectionist that used to cry when my taco shell broke on Friday night after a long week at school, this was a milestone for me. I strived for perfection. Academically. Athletically. Professionally. I was driven at a young age and loved the word ‘perfect’. And no one else besides myself was to blame for my addiction.

My mind won’t stop. I’m mentally and physically exhausted from the past three days of pepping, stressing, watching, thinking, hoping, praying and wondering what the next 48 hours will bring.

The calm before the storm.

Tampa- Pirate Water Taxi

My favorite way to explore a new city that I am visiting is taking recommendations from the people who know it best. The insiders. The experts. The locals. It’s no secret that I love Tampa. It’s one of my favorite cities in all of Florida! I know it inside and out. I love learning about what’s new, what’s coming, and what’s happening. My kids and I often play tourists in our own city, taking time to have fun and experience new things in our own backyard.
