To spoil or not to spoil…that is the question

I read a blog post from my friend the other day and it really made me think about how I parent. Spoiling my kids is not really something I do too often. When I think of spoiling, I think about how some kid who are spoiled, act like spoiled brats! I am not a fan of “those kids” and really don’t want mine to turn into them. However, I got to thinking…do I not spoil them enough to let them know that they are not special to me?

We are on vacation and have some pretty cool things planned. Cubs game, American Girl Doll Store trip. Things that the kids have been really looking forward to. So today I am going to give in. I will let the kids run the show (with reason) and spoil them with 2 scoops of ice cream, the fun souvenir that I can buy for $10 less somewhere else, get them their own meal instead of making them share and maybe a few more things in between. Yes. I can do that. not anyone else, because I am Mom. And if you know me, you’ll know that this is not my daily style. I’m more the practical “fun police” kind of Mom. Just think that practical and safety are my middle name.

Because they are my kids and I can do this. I want them to have the best day ever today. They are super awesome kids and deserve days like today! Watch out Chicago! This Mama has her credit card on the loose!
