First Day of School vs. Last Day of School: A Collection of Photos of How Far We Have Come

It’s the end. We are crossing the finish line of the school year and let me tell you, it ain’t pretty. It is definitely not pretty when you finish any kind of marathon you have worked so hard for. You are tired. You are a wreck and you honestly, look like a train wreck. But you finished and that’s all that matters. We are almost there (maybe some crossed the line this week) but I wanted to recap how far we have come (or actually how far we have fallen) from that first day of school.

First day of school be like:
First Day of School 2014

Uniforms are pressed, no holes. Socks are matching. Shoes look brand new. Backpacks are brand spankin’ new and colorful. Everyone has a smile on their face. It’s off to the races!

Last day of school be like:
Last Day of School

“OMG! Where are your shoes? I don’t care if they fit. I don’t care if there is a hole in them. I don’t care if it has paint on it. Put it on. We are late. Get out the door. What do you mean it’s pajama day?! Did you not hear me? WE ARE LATE! Get in the car. NOW!”

First lunch of the new year be like:
Happy Little Bento

“A perfectly made, healthy and fun lunch that was made with love.”

Last lunch of the year be like:

“I haven’t gone shopping. I have no more baggies and no more lids to the plastic containers. I have no napkins or paper towels so I’m using toliet paper. I can’t find a spoon and I think I have enough grapes that may or may not look like a raisin. Finished.”

Dinners in September be like:

“A healthy homemade meal made with love…”

Dinners in May be like:

“What?!? I still have to feed them?”

Dinner is Served

“Hmmmmm…What can we make with these…”

I know there is much more that I am forgetting, but I forgot I have to pick up my kids and now I will be the last Mom in car line or they will be shipped off to aftercare because I am late. I look like hell and really don’t care who I see today. I also think I am wearing the same clothes I have worn for the past two days. But we are ALL. MOST. THERE. Limping over the finish line for another year of school only to have about 75 days to ramp up to the new year.

Here’s to all the Moms and Dads limping over the finish line…but…WE MADE IT, RIGHT!!! Might not be pretty but who the hell cares! Another year in the books!
