Want to escape from whatever you are doing now?
How does Hawaii sound? Right now?! Put me on a plane and let’s go! Well, it might not be that simple to escape to Hawaii, but if you want to relax, enduldge in Pacific Rim inspired flavors and take a night off, head on over to Roy’s Restaurant for a perfect Hawaiian escape.
Event the tiki torches make it seem Big Island like!
What I really loved about Roy’s was how they use the home city of the restaurant to create locally inspired dishes, crafted by the restaurant’s chefs and original to that location. The dishes will change every few months and sometimes with the seasons. {And if you are really looking for a special meal, talk to your waiter and have the chef create a dish for you!} This isn’t just an “order-off-the-cookie-cutter-menu” restaurant, it’s an experience, so come to enjoy! (And if you are a beer lover, Tampa’s very own Cigar City Brewery, has partnered with Roy’s to create a four course experience for you to pair with your hand crafter beer from Cigar City! The brewery is within a mile from the restaurant, so the beer is fresh and the meals are delicious! My husband was a huge fan of this!)
Until 7pm, there are $7 cocktails and bar bites to start the night off right. They call this the Aloha Hour!
Hawaiian Martini
Loved this hand-crafted cocktail made with Maui Pineapple drenched in SKYY Vodka with Stoli Vani Malibu Coconut Rum. I closed my eyes, and there I was, walking out on the beach, getting ready to soak up the sun!
We love fresh sushi and Roy’s Restaurant has some of the freshest seafood in Tampa. Their Aloha Hour (until 7pm) has a number of $7 Bar Bites, including sushi, that are perfect to start with. The Lobster Potstickers were a favorite too! (Not shown)
I am a surf n’turf girl so their two-course special of lobster and filet caught my eye and had me at “aloha.” It began with a mouthwatering appetizer of Lobster Potstickers with Spicy Japanese Togarashi Miso Butter Sauce, prepared with Ginger, Garlic and Thai Basil. To follow a Charred Filet Mignon with a Coriander Chimichurri Sauce and Ginger Glazed Lobster Tail. It was as delicious as it sounds.
{This special is only offered for a limited time. $32.95 Filet and Lobster Menu until October 15th.}
Sweet treats to end the night. I felt like I was on vacation because we usually only eat like this when we are on vacation! The entire night was a treat.
We loved the Belgian Chocolate Torte Raspberry Sauce, Seasonal Berries, Vanilla Whipped Cream. The Upside Down Pineapple Cake and the S’mores Dessert was a very close 2nd place.
I can’t say enough about our server and service as well. Chad, from Michigan, was the most delightful server that really took our overall experience at Roy’s to a much higher level. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the food, he was enjoyable to talk with and get to know. Having a long history in waitressing in my younger years, I really admire and appreciate the service and server when trying a new restaurant. It really makes the entire evening that much better. And when we decide to go out for another night out away from the kids, we will definitely be dining again at Roy’s Restaurant. It might not be an actual escape to Hawaii, but it was relaxing, the food is wonderful and that’s all that matters on date night! Cheers!
Visit Roy’s Restaurants at one of their 21 locations stateside or the original location in Hawaii… Hoping to be on a plane to Hawaii soon…until then, I will just have to visit Roy’s more often.
