Nature will always be our best teacher! This is a sponsored conversation written by me and sponsored by Zephyrhills® Brand 100% Natural Spring Water. All opinions are my own!
I love finding places where my kids and I can learn about the world around them. We love exploring Florida and all the diverse ecosystems that our right in our backyard. A friend of mine had told me about a field trip her son’s class had to Crystal Springs Preserve and I had to check it out for myself! I love finding new road schooling destinations that I can share with others too! Thanks to Karen Pate, Vice President of Crystal Springs Preserve and Kent Koptiuch, Zephyrhills Brand Natural Resource Manager for the amazing tour of Crystal Springs Preserve. We will most definitely be back soon!
Venture off the beaten path about 40 miles north of Tampa and you’ll stumble upon nature’s paradise. A REAL Florida living learning lab, that will make you want to learn more about how to protect this Earth, especially the water that flows from it. This 530-acre sanctuary is devoted to environmental education and dedication and to the preservation of Florida’s natural environment. It’s simply stunning. Quiet. Peaceful. Tranquil. Real Florida as it was long ago.
Crystal Springs, a second-magnitude spring system, discharges 30 million gallons of water per day. This land is now managed by the Crystal Springs Foundation. Zephyrhills® is committed to managing their local Florida springs for sustainability today and for years to come. It has called Florida home for 50-plus years and today sources it water from five springs across the state, Crystal Springs being one of them, with over 95% being distributed in Florida.
Through their wildlife viewing opportunities, miles of wooded trails, river boardwalks, unique nature center, wilderness pavilion and extensive butterfly gardens, visitors are immersed in enriching experiences which enable them to make environmentally conscious decisions as they grow into the future. They have programs that offer challenging, hands-on, directed learning opportunities for groups of all ages.
Even if you are unable to visit, Zephyrhills® has a program which will bring all of this to you, partnering with WaterVentures since its inception in 2013.
WaterVentures
The WaterVentures program is nothing short of amazing. It brings the living laboratory to you. Zephyrhills® Brand 100% Natural Spring Water and WaterVentures Florida’s Mobile Learning Lab announced at the Florida State Fair on February 9 that WaterVentures has reached a milestone of educating over one million people throughout Florida since it first hit the road in 2013.
The WaterVentures Learning Lab is a traveling science center. This amazing vehicle is a 53 foot semi-trailer which has been customized to provide a platform for educational outreach programs. The truck travels across Florida visiting schools, communities, and events. A dynamic staff of trained educators travel with the truck to schools, fairs and communities across Florida! Through this program, Zephyrhills® and WaterVentures are committed to fostering the next generation of water stewards and inspiring appreciation, understanding and respect for Florida’s water resources.
Funding from Zephyrhills® Brand helps enable WaterVentures to visit schools, fairs, and community events, raising awareness of the role water plays in Floridians lives and empowering them to make environmentally conscious decisions. To date they have completed 449 school visits, 80 community events, and 120 summer programs.
After visiting Crystal Springs, I’m so excited to bring my kids out to volunteer and learn from this amazing facility! It’s easy to book a field trip, a WaterVentures visit to YOUR school, or even a virtual classroom where the wonder of this beautiful place can come to you anywhere in the world.
